Tooth Decay in Toddlers

When  the first tooth erupts it is the best time to  give your pediatric dentist a visit. Your pediatric dentist will examine your child’s mouth and will give you  dental advise to prevent dental problems in the future. Tooth decay is one of the most common dental problems in toddlers. One obstacle is that toddlers may not be able to communicate about dental pain or anything of that sort. Thus, it is important that parents know what a tooth without cavities should look. In tooth decays, cavities are formed on the outer layer of the tooth. These cavities are formed because the enamel has been damaged and lost its minerals.

Sometimes the enamel can repair itself. But when the damage is permanent , there is a need for this cavity to be cleaned and replaced with a filling. Consult your Dentist on how the procedure will be done.
