Dentures

DENTURES – are appliances which are shaped and designed like teeth to function like one. Dentures replacing complete set of teeth is called COMPLETE DENTURE while dentures replacing a few is called  PARTIAL DENTURE.

Complete Dentures  are generally removable. Sometimes for ease of comfort  dental implants are place in the jaw for retention.

Partial Dentures may be removable or fixed. Removable partial dentures may cleaned frequently to avoid accumulation of bacteria on the dentures surfaces. At times the wearer may be uncomfortable for the first few days to a week and should be patient enough to wear it so it will serve its function.

Single CROWN covering only one tooth or BRIDGE . replacing one or more teeth anchoring to the closest teeth for stability and retention, are examples of Fixed Dentures It gives comfort to the patient because it can not be removed in because they are cemented on existing teeth near or next to  missing teeth area on the same arch. ( upper jaw or lower jaw/mandible)

CROWN

Crowns are used to cover a single tooth which has a fractured enamel part or a tooth that has undergone root canal treatment. It may be made of acrylic, metal fused to porcelain, all metal, or full porcelain. These are designed to look and function like natural teeth. DENTAL BRIDGES

Dental Bridges are like crowns. These are indicated for cases involving loss of one or more teeth. In Dental Bridges, there is a need to make some teeth present, which are closest to the missing teeth area in the same arch as abutments, where the bridge will be cemented.
